The use of altcoins in the iGaming industry has significantly increased—in 2024, their share reached 50%, which indicates solid popularity. In 2024, users of iGaming platforms have indeed started using altcoins much more actively. Compared to 2023, when their usage rate was 26.8%, their popularity has almost doubled. At the same time, Bitcoin's share has simultaneously dropped by nearly 17%. However, BTC remains active.

Professionals name several factors for why the use of altcoins has grown. First, there are lower transaction commissions. In addition, compared to Bitcoin, transactions are confirmed much faster. Also, in some cases, altcoins provide a higher level of privacy and anonymity.

Due to Bitcoin's sharp rise in 2024, punters have become more conservative when it comes to betting on cryptocurrency. The whole point is that because the value of BTC has increased, the average bet amount has increased along with it. For betting in cryptocurrency, this moment was positive because their total volume due to this trend has increased quite significantly.

Altcoins are used least in classic slot machines and table games. Cryptocurrency bets are most often accepted in modern fast games with instant winnings, which include crash games (like Aviator or JetX) and Plinko. The latter is gaining popularity due to its instant winnings and addictive gameplay. There are even special information sites that offer a selection of mobile applications with Plinko. One of the most visited of them is https://plinkogames.in/

At the same time, the interest in cryptocurrencies in the iGaming sector remains stable, which is confirmed by the data of specialized studies. If we take the total amount of cryptocurrency and fiat bets, then in 2024, compared to the previous period, a growth of 35.9% was demonstrated. At the same time, if we take cryptocurrency bets separately, their amount compared to 2023 also increased significantly, by 18.7%. As you can see, this is more than half of the total growth, which is a significant indicator.

That said, cryptocurrencies' position in the industry has been fairly stable before—one in five bets in the sector was made using crypto in the first half of 2024. Now, it remains to be seen whether the experts were right when they predicted that in 2025, cryptocurrency would become the main driver of growth in the iGaming segment. Moreover, more than half of the experts were in favor of this happening.
