Amazon is advancing its potential in logistics with its plans to unveil drone hubs across the U.S. in 2025. This bold step taken by Amazon enables them to ensure autonomous, lightning fast shipping, bringing delivery time down from hours to minutes. Laying the groundwork for the future of delivery, Amazon logistics team has stated that these newly planned hubs are more than mere facilities as they are centers for their Prime Air Fleet, providing delivery in minutes. These designs of these drones particularly enable serving long distance deliveries under various weather conditions due to their enhanced reliability – setting a new benchmark in autonomous delivery. These delivery drones can carry parcels that weigh up to 5 pounds and Amazon aims to fulfill at least 70% of their delivery needs through these drones.

Amazon has planned its initial rollout in California, Texas and Ohio, which would be expanded nationwide after careful review and analysis. These hubs stand as intelligent eco-systems,  integrating AI-driven mapping of the essential routes to ensure accuracy and to reduce human errors. Furthermore, Amazon also targets the reduction of its carbon footprint by taking it to the skies, reducing the use of trucks and vans.

Analysts are of the opinion that the expansion that Amazon targets in 2025 is to be viewed as a global shift, bringing about a revolution in last mile sorting and distribution which mostly stays a challenge.
