Zohran Mamdani Elected NYC Mayor: First Muslim Leader

Zohran Mamdani has entered the record books, being elected as the Mayor of New York City. He won the election to become the youngest leader to take up the position in over a century, winning over 50% of votes.

On November 4, 2025, Zohran Mamdani emerged victorious as the 111th Mayor of New York City. The progressive campaign influenced the city’s desire to shift towards progress which was evident during the elections. Beyond the votes, Zohran also stands as the first Muslim Mayor of New York city of South Asian descent.
