The teaser for the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic, simply titled Michael, has made a huge impact. In the first six hours after its release today, it has already gathered over 30 million views — that’s 50% more than the first six hours of John Wick: Chapter 4.
This exciting news was shared by Lionsgate Motion Picture Chair Adam Fogelson during their earnings call this afternoon.
The film, directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by Graham King (who also worked on Bohemian Rhapsody), is set to hit theaters on April 24, 2026. Fans are eagerly waiting for this highly anticipated movie from Lionsgate.
During the call, an analyst asked about the possibility of a second part to the film. Lionsgate had to split Michael into two movies because the original cut was over three and a half hours long. Also, some footage involved one of Jackson’s accusers, and the estate’s settlement meant that part couldn’t be dramatized.
Fogelson responded positively about the project. He said they’ve seen the director’s cut of the first film, and it’s “exceptional.” While they’re not officially planning a second film yet, he mentioned the creative team is working hard to be ready to deliver more Michael soon after the first one comes out.
Fogelson also noted, “People have been waiting a long time for this,” and praised Jaafar Jackson’s performance, saying fans will be stunned.
Overall, excitement is building for what promises to be a major movie event.
