Dubai Municipality has announced the suspension of two engineering consultancy firms for a period of six months due to violations of regulations, licensing conditions, and ethical standards. During this suspension, these firms are prohibited from obtaining new project licenses.
In addition, the municipality revealed plans to revamp Dubai’s contractor rating system by introducing an enhanced performance assessment framework. This updated system, which is set to be implemented at the start of 2026, will incorporate new criteria such as financial stability, Emiratisation efforts, and engagement in social responsibility initiatives.
Dubai continues its crackdown on illegal partitions and subletting practices, emphasizing the importance of compliance through regular field inspections of engineering consultancy offices.
Maryam Al Muhairi, CEO of the Buildings Regulation and Permits Agency at Dubai Municipality, highlighted that the new assessment standards aim to strengthen Dubai’s global competitiveness and foster a better environment for engineering professionals and consulting firms. She also emphasized the municipality’s commitment to providing property owners and developers with reliable data on consultants and contractors to facilitate informed decision-making.
Furthermore, Dubai Municipality plans to hold ongoing meetings and engagement sessions to gather feedback from stakeholders before the new system is officially adopted.
