Linda Yaccarino resigns as CEO of X after two years of strategic transformation

On July 9, 2025, Linda Yaccarino announced her resignation as CEO of X (formerly Twitter), ending her two-year leadership under Elon Musk. She took to the platform today to share her decision, emphasizing the privilege it was to “protect free speech, turn the company around, and transform X into the Everything App.”

Originally brought in from NBCUniversal in June 2023, Yaccarino inherited a platform grappling with falling ad revenue and concerns over brand safety. Over her tenure, she led major initiatives, including introducing subscription models, enhancing video content, integrating payments, and empowering creators through monetization tools. These moves helped reassure advertisers, many of whom had paused campaigns during earlier turbulence.

Yaccarino described her time at X as “two incredible years,” expressing gratitude for the opportunity and confidence in the company’s future. The transition plan and her successor, however, have not yet been disclosed.
