The US Department of Agriculture signed a $300 million contract with Palantir Technologies to enhance its services for farmers around the country.

The contract was awarded directly to Palantir. The USDA stated no other firm possessed the same depth of federal approvals, data systems and ties required to carry out the work promptly, those particulars weren't in-depth within the procurement records. The contract is an extension of previous progress made on the Landmark platform, and proposes a new scheme called "One Farmer, One File." A fully-integrated system is projected to be completed by 2028.

The USDA will consolidate around numerous legacy systems under this project on Palantir Foundry. It is anticipated that this change will decrease maintenance, provide more secure data and streamline the delivery of support programmes.

The plan's centrepiece is a digital profile for each farmer. Farmers will be able to apply for services, upload data and receive payment in a single space. It also means fewer physical trips to offices, helping improve overall efficiency through modern agricultural strategies.

This is Palantir's third such major federal deal in a quarter. This follows a $75 million remote sensing contract with the USDA and its part in the massive Golden Dome program. The new contract, while smaller than Palantir's target revenue of $7.2 billion in 2026 reinforces the companies sustainable position on government data projects. Palantir is really hammering on the gas pedal in 2025, earning $4.5 billion, mostly from US government work.

The USDA intends to tie the FSA, NRCS, and RMA within an integrated system. In the short term, attention is expected to turn to expanding online acreage reporting, bolster disaster support and payments via the Landmark (RMS) system and growing tools to detect fraud risks tied to foreign threats under the National Farm Security Action Plan.
