We recently had the privilege of interviewing Erika Jordan, proud owner of Hyperbaric Healing Treatment Center. Erika is a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer who graduated from Cambridge College of Healthcare & Technology in Delray Beach, FL.
She is also an Emergency Medical Technician with a degree from Palm Beach State College, a Certified Hyperbaric Technologist with the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology, and a Certified Hyperbaric Specialist with The American Board of Wound Healing (ABWH).
We started the interview by asking,
Can you tell us about the inspiration behind founding Hyperbaric Healing Treatment Center and your journey in establishing it as a premier hyperbaric oxygen therapy concept?
My inspiration to start my own company started when working in a hospital setting, I soon realized the disadvantages that those centers presented. At those facilities, we were limited to only treating 14 insurance-approved indications—meaning that many patients had to be turned away from receiving HBOT treatment for not falling within their narrow treatment guidelines.
With the experience gained from working in a private clinic, I turned my frustration at the lack of treatment opportunities into the goal of offering HBOT to all patients in a cost-effective manner.
I had always dreamed of opening my own hyperbaric facility. With this goal in mind, I opened Hyperbaric Healing Treatment Center in 2017 to offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy for any patient who needs treatment.
What sets Hyperbaric Healing Treatment Center apart from other hyperbaric oxygen therapy centers?
What sets Hyperbaric Healing Treatment Center apart from other hyperbaric oxygen therapy centers is our Years of hands-on experience, care provided to our patients, and passion for our field.
How do you ensure that your team remains highly qualified and compassionate in delivering hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients?
Training is the biggest part. Unfortunately, in our field there is not a degree to become a Hyperbaric Operator. So, I have developed initial, and ongoing training for my team in order for us to set the bar high and provide the utmost quality and care for the patient who chooses to heal with us.
Could you walk us through the state-of-the-art facilities at your medical centers, particularly the Sechrist monoplace hyperbaric chambers? How do these facilities contribute to the patient's experience?
Our Hyperbaric chambers are the best for many reasons. Aesthetically they are beautiful with clear acrylic. From an operator's standpoint they are easy to use and very safe. These are the main types of chambers found in the hospital setting. Besides the luxurious chambers we have, we are also a paperless office as I have developed a custom Template on our Electronic Medical Software making it quick and easy to transfer medical records, as well as our patient monitoring cameras. Our chamber room is equipped to always hear and see our patients while in treatment. This is the first I've seen on the monoplace setting but just sets us up a notch when it comes to safety.
How does the Hyperbaric Healing Treatment Center ensure accessibility to hyperbaric oxygen therapy for all patients, regardless of their insurance coverage?
Unlike most hospitals we offer discounted cash treatment options. This helps patients who do not have insurance, have deductibles too high to afford, or choose to heal naturally without their insurance for whatever reason they choose.
Lastly, as a woman founder, what unique perspectives or experiences do you bring to the leadership of Hyperbaric Healing Treatment Center, particularly in the healthcare industry?
As a founder, what makes us unique is I have worked in every aspect of the hyperbaric field and have gained many experiences that I can now provide to our patients. From having first hand experience, I was able to see what was working and areas I wanted to add to better patient care. As my mind set was no one wants to have medical procedures. So, the ones who choose to come to us have the best experience in all ways when in our clinic. This also helps me with my team. As I understand the different departments I can relate to and only try to better the workplace for the ones who choose to work with us.
“I opened my centers with the goal in mind to raise the bar in quality of care while bringing awareness to all patients in order for them to receive proper treatments and better results.”
