In 2003, he became Deputy Chairman of BSkyB Television (Sky). He also invested in Russian oil, buying shares in YUKOS and later acquiring a 5% interest in Genie Energy, a company that held oil rights in the Golan Heights. At the time, his shares in the company were worth $10 million.
