Peanut, a social networking app designed for women, is introducing a new feature to help users track their pregnancies. Called Peanut Track, this tool is built on seven years of insights from questions women have asked on the platform, using AI to anticipate the kinds of questions that arise at different stages of pregnancy.

Since its launch in 2017, Peanut has served as an online community aimed at connecting women through various phases of life, from puberty to menopause. With the new Peanut Track feature, the company is now offering women personalized guidance tailored to each stage of their pregnancy, taking the platform beyond its original focus on shared experiences and community building.

Until now, Peanut’s main goal has been fostering connections among women. This new feature marks the company’s shift into providing more utility-based services, empowering users to manage their pregnancies individually while still maintaining its community roots.

"We’ve always been about community," says Michelle Kennedy, Peanut’s CEO and founder. "But what about the times when you’re not looking to engage with others but need specific information? We can now serve up the content we know you’re likely to ask about, based on years of data from other women who have gone through the same experiences."

Peanut Track provides users with content related to their current stage of pregnancy, offering tips on well-being and what they should expect next. The content includes guidance from gynecologists and covers traditional pregnancy metrics, such as comparisons of baby size to everyday objects like peaches or pumpkins. Users are also informed about common symptoms they might be experiencing at each stage.

Staying true to Peanut’s community-driven mission, Peanut Track also connects women who are at the same point in their pregnancy journey, encouraging shared understanding and support during this time.

The introduction of Peanut Track was driven by user requests. Kennedy explains that the platform has always been in tune with its user base, allowing the team to gather feedback and implement features that the community desires.

Looking ahead, Peanut plans to roll out a new feature next year called Peanut Grow, which will focus on helping women navigate the early stages of motherhood. This tool will help track developmental milestones, feeding schedules, and more. Kennedy also highlights its focus on mental well-being, particularly in addressing postpartum challenges like depression and loneliness, by providing both tracking tools and community support.

Peanut has raised $32 million to date, including $10 million from a funding round in August 2022 that helped the company reach profitability. Prior to that, Peanut secured $12 million in a Series A funding round in May 2020.
