In a move that’s turning heads across fashion circles, Maria Grazia Chiuri has been appointed as the Chief Creative Officer at Fendi, viewed as a triumphant return of one of the most influential designers in the industry. Maria Grazia joined Fendi in 1989 as handbag and accessories designer and continued her professional career with the company providing critical contributions through 1999.

Is Maria Grazia’s Return to Fendi a Full Circle Moment?

Maria Gracia, who was employed at Dior to guide the brand’s women’s collections, departed and took a six-month break. Her appointment at Fendi as the Chief Creative Officer marked the end of this pause which seems to be a creative homecoming. The efficient leader Silvia Venturini Fendi, moved to the position of Honorary President, making way to welcome the talented Maria Grazia back home. The decision was appreciated by Fendi's parent company, LVMH; Churi being titled as “one of the greatest creative talents in the fashion world today”, by the CEO, Bernard Arnault

The return to Fendi was acknowledged by Chiuri herself, who said that she is returning with “honor and joy” besides recognizing the legacy of the Fendi’s five founding sisters who have fueled her creative skills across various stages of her artistic evolution.

What to Expect by Fall/ Winter 2026

During the Milan Fashion Week in February 2026, a new milestone will be unveiled as part of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s return to Fendi. Chiuri is all set to open up her first collection for Fendi during the Fashion Week, which is an eager wait for the fashion world. There are several questions and confusions among fashion insiders on what she would introduce for Fendi as the new collection. There are speculative suggestions based on her tenure at Dior where she blended feminine themes with artistic and skillful craftsmanship.

Maria Grazia Chiuri is not just artistically skilled, she had a strong influence on the business growth, which was exhibited with her business strategy skills at Dior - expected to continue effectively at Fendi. All eyes are on Milan as Maria Grazia Chiuri reintroduces herself and reimagines Fendi at one of the biggest fashion stages.
